Grace Verwys, age 96, of Grand Rapids, died Monday, July 12.

She was born in Moline to Andrew and Fannie Pasma. Grace had a servant’s heart and lived a life devoted to her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, David and Kathleen Verwys, Phillip and Jean Verwys; grandchildren, Joel and Darcy Verwys, Nathan and Andrea Verwys, Vicki and Jim Steenbergen, Marvin and Lindsay Verwys, Andrea Verwys, Betsy and Peter Taylor, and Tom and Sarah Verwys; great grandchildren, Grace, Rita, Sam, Ellen, Evan, Clara, Moses, Elliott, Libby, Gabby, Marta, Ginny, Molly, Lena, Reuben, Gabe, Allie, and Tad; siblings, Eunice Raar and Ted Pasma; sister-in-law, Lois Pasma, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Grace was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, July 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE). A funeral will be held on at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Highland Hills Baptist Church (1415 Northrup Ave NE).
