Delbert Edgar Caswell, 73, of Hopkins, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, at University of Michigan Health West Hospital.

Born Oct. 23, 1950, in Allegan, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lois (Jordan) Caswell and was the husband of Norma Sue (Greer) Caswell.

Delbert was a member of Faith Covenant Ministry in Allegan, where he had previously served as a deacon and often helped with preparing dinners at the church. Delbert was a devoted employee of Crescent Machine in Allegan where he had worked as a machine operator and truck driver for 38 years prior to retirement.

Delbert had also been active in senior sports for several years, including volleyball and beanbag baseball, but especially looked forward to socializing with friends. He also enjoyed traveling and taking long rides in the country with his wife, often stopping at yard sales along their route.

Delbert and his beloved canine companion, Baby the chihuahua, loved to go on walks together. He did most of the walking while Baby rode along in her stroller.

Delbert found his greatest joy with family making memories and always looked forward to the special times he spent with his granddaughter, Caitlin.

Besides Norma Sue, his wife of 33 years, Delbert is survived by his children, Gary (Xiomara) Parnell, William (Christina) Caswell and Marsha (Tim) Baker; grandchildren, Madeline Parnell, Monique Parnell, Olivia Parnell, Caitlin Parnell, Amber Caswell, Dathan Caswell, Eymar Fuentes, Yxa Fuentes and Lixi Deables; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Floyd Caswell, Richard (Darlene) Caswell and Bobby Jordan.

A funeral will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, 403 E. Van Buren St., Gobles, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, with visitation at the church beginning at 11 a.m.
