Service Wednesday for Dan Drummond of Selkirk Lake

photo_20160522_WM0068327_0_20160522Daniel Kyle Drummond, age 69 of Selkirk Lake, Shelbyville (formerly of Rockford), died  Friday, May 20.
Dan proudly served his country as a US Army Sergeant in the 4th Infantry Division in the Vietnam War where he was awarded a purple heart. Once home from Vietnam, he spent more than 35 years in the sign industry. Installing high rise signs were his favorite, most notably servicing the Weather Ball when it was on the Old Kent Bank building, putting together and installing the Van Andel Arena scoreboard, along with installing many more iconic West Michigan signs.
He is survived by his daughters Holly (James) Shupe, Brandi (Kevin) Clark and son Andrew (Kayla) Berli; five grandchildren, Brennon and Olivia Shupe, Lucas and Della Clark and Daniel Berli; sisters Mary Garver, Suzy Persinger and sister-inlaw Glenna Drummond, along with his wonderful and loving girlfriend Sue Andringa, who was there every step of the way during his battle with cancer. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Velma along with siblings Fred, Bing, Dick and Jack Drummond.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, and funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids.
