Service is Wednesday for John Veenstra of Hopkins

John Gerald Veenstra Sr., age 67 of Hopkins, died Sunday, Dec. 19, at his farm.

John was a faithful, simple, loving, and quiet man who was humble and honorable to the end. Farming was his life, his love and his passion. From milking cows, to raising pigs, the barns were always full. Besides farming, John also worked at Perrigo in Allegan for more than 21 years.

John was born to Robert and Ethel Veenstra May 25, 1954, in Grand Rapids. His parents precede him in death, along with other family and friends. John is survived by his wife, Kathy; children Rebecca (Rob) Brown, John Jr. (Karla) Veenstra, and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Kubiak-Cook – Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Kubiak-Cook, with visitation one hour prior to the service. John will be laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery in Hopkins.
