James A. Rodanhisler, age 73 of Dorr died after a long battle with cancer Monday, Sept. 18.

He enjoyed fishing and having fish frys with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, racing and trips to Florida in the winter. But above all Jim’s family was the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Nancy (Engelsman); his children and grandchildren Doug (LuAnn) Hannah, Jarrett and Jacob; Carrie (Ken) Kurdelski, Caleb, Dylan and Jenna, Joel (Sherri), Devin, Ashley ad Caitlin. His siblings Mary (Bob Raterink) Zacker, Don (Dee) Swanson, Diane (Larry) Gaca, Carol (Arthur) DeJongh, Pat (Rick Spicer) Belka, Jerry and Dianna, Janet (Bruce) Henderson; Nancy’s step-mother, Dorothy Engelsman; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Delores Pater, Linda (Bill) Raterink, Sandy (Arlan) Boersen, Wayne Engelsman and Brian (Torrie) Engelsman.

James was preceded in death by his parents Clem and Leona (Steffes) Rodanhisler along with an infant daughter and son.

A time for family and friends to visit will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, with a rosary at 5 p.m. at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church 2459 146th Ave., Byron Center. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery.
