Ruth Louise Wood, 88, of Watson Township, died Wednesday, March 2, at the Wings Home in Allegan,
Mrs. Wood was born in Nashville, Mich., on Sep. 18, 1927, the daughter of Archie D. and Lenora M. (Brewster) Spaulding. She was a feisty lady who never let any grass grow under her feet and loved spending time with her family. Ruth was very active, working seven years for the Perrigo Company, enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, going on cruises, trying her luck at the casinos and being around horses and the 4-H. If you met Ruth, you knew you met a very unique and wonderful woman. Being the youngest of nine children, there was no other way to be.
She is survived by her two daughters: Roxann and Raymond Nash, Karin Wood and Brett Wiley; four grandchildren: Heather and Matt Kossen, Kevin and Shawna Alflen, Ryan and Amanda Nash, and Brandy Nash; six great-grandchildren: Cierra, Jared, Mackenzie, Nicole, Kyle and Kayla; one great-great-grandchild: Violette; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George “Bud” Wood; eight brothers; and one sister.
Friends may meet with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, Comer Skinner officiating.
