James “Jimmy” Haynes, age 68, died Monday, May 9.

Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy and received a National Defense Service Medal for serving abroad. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He was a graduate of West Michigan Teen Challenge class of ’89. He worked at Mollers for 26 years. He was a supervisor in the fabrication department, where he led teams and developed and mentored young employees. He enjoyed grilling and watching both the Washington Redskins and Michigan State Spartans

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lori Haynes; children Ebony (Marc) Beltman, Shaylee (Robert) Gill, Tammy Thomas, Tasha Hicks-Singleton, Eric Haynes, Julius (Helen) Skrine, Gary Jermaine Thomas, Heather (Ben) Coffman, Heath (Rachel) Postma, Jordan (Erin) Postma, Jonathan (Kylee) Postma; sisters Angela Sanders and Deniece Sanders (John) Means; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite McDougal Sanders; father, James Willie Haynes Sr.; brother, Elroy Halbert Haynes.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at LifeChange Community Church, 3014 Newell St., Dorr, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. prior to service. Light refreshments will follow the service.

In honor of Jimmy, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help cover funeral expenses.
