Service will be Saturday for Jason Morgan, 44

Jason Douglas Morgan “Wawagiizhik,” age 44 of Wayland, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, in a mobile home fire.

Born Feb., 13, 1973, Jason was a proud member of the Gun Lake Potawatomi Tribe. He was a Bodewadmi student and teacher.  Jason loved his Pottawatomi culture by attending local tribal events and pow wows.

Surviving are his birth mother Angela Thunder Hawk; siblings, Mark Farley, David Farley, Hawk Thunder Hawk; aunts and uncles, Robert Olivarri, Phyllis and Monte Davis, Tracy Gallacher, Brenda Sipkema; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ed and Margaret Sipkema “Mom and Dad.”

A service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Luella Collins Community Center, 419 126th Ave, Wayland.  A time to visit with Jason’s family will be Friday, Jan. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m and from 10 am to noon Saturday, all at the Luella Collins Community Center. Burial will be at the Bradley Indian Cemetery with a luncheon to follow back at the Luella Collins Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be used to purchase city benches in Jason’s memory.
