Jay Shawn Tyler of Hopkins died Saturday, Sept. 19. He was 56.

He was born Feb. 8, 1964, in Rock Island, Ill., to Donald and Jonna (Mott) Tyler.

Jay’s mission in life was to bring as many people to the Lord while he was here in this earthly body. He wanted all to come together for the purpose of unity in Christ.

Jay would want us to grieve the loss of his earthly body, but only for a short time. He would want us to be filled with joy knowing that he came to do the work the Lord had given him to do while on this earthly home.

Jay is survived by his wife, Cindy (Lewison) Tyler; his son, Jonathan (Amber) Tyler; his daughter, Shana (Charles III) Anderson; five grandkids, Serenity and Dominic Anderson; Camden, Macaila and Alison Tyler; his mother, Jonna (Mott) Tyler; his mother-in-law, Aileen (Kent) Lewison; his two siblings, Jerry Tyler and Rhonda Lewison; his brother-in-law, Roger Lewison; his sisters-in-law, Lori (Roger) Schutte, Terri (Richard) Ragsdale and Cathy Jacobs; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Tyler and father-in-law, Roland Lewison.

The family will receive friends at the Grandville Church of Christ (3725 44th Street, Grandville, MI 49418) from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Private burial has taken place in Lakeview Cemetery, Hopkins Township.
