Laura June Orsborn, age 84, died Monday, March 27.

Laura was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Parmelee, Mich.,to William and Julia Barrett. She met Raymond Wesley Orsborn on a blind date at Stoney Point Church. They were married April 4, 1964, at Bradley Free Methodist Church.

They had two children and lived their early married years in Wayland, and then later relocated to Lake Odessa in 1979 when she and her husband took the sexton position at Lakeside Cemetery. She was also the pianist for 50 years for both the Free Methodist Church in Wayland and the Nazarene Church in Lake Odessa. Laura enjoyed working with and serving the public in the office at Lakeside Cemetery for 29 years.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Wesley Orsborn; children Kathryn (Randy) Graves, Kimberly (Daniel Rush) Prysock; grandchildren Aschley Prysock-Sturm, Joshua (Danita) Orsborn, Anthony (Kassie) Fancett; great-grandchildren Vivienne Orsborn, Beckam Prysock, Caedmon Prysock, Makayla Prysock, Blake Prysock, Maverick Fancett, Temperance Fancett, Gracelynn Fancett; brother, Albert Dean; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Julia Barrett; four brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, SSG. Brandon Joseph Prysock.

A funeral celebrating Laura’s life will be held at noon Saturday, April 1, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services (Wayland chapel), 312 N. Main St., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Laura will be laid to rest at the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland.

In memory of Laura and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
