David Lee Martin, age 85, of Byron Center/Dorr, died Wednesday, April 24.

Dave served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a hardworking, loving, husband, father and grandfather. Dave worked his entire career in the construction industry for the D.C. Beyers Company. He enjoyed rustic camping with his family and growing vegetables in his garden.

He faithfully, quietly, cared for his wife, Antoinette, until her passing in 2015.

He is survived by his daughters, Renee (Andrew) Reeg, Kim (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Nelson, Michael (Kayla) Bowers, Courtney Morici; great grandchildren, Kiara, Kimora and Kealliya Nelson, Giovanni Morici, and soon to be, Avery Bowers; nephew, Ken (Carmen) Martin; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Antoinette; his parents, James and Hazel Martin.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Msgr. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
