Evelyn Hattie Blakeslee, aged 83 of Kentwood, died Thursday, June 20, after a three-year battle with cancer.

Evelyn graduated from Hopkins High School and worked for many years at Gordy’s Supermarket.

She is survived by her sons: Scott (Robin) Blakeslee, David Blakeslee (Amy Chlebek) , Brian Blakeslee; grandchildren: Jen (Chad) Senneker, Nicole (Jon) Chulski, David Blakeslee Jr., Joe Blakeslee, Emily Blakeslee, Brian Blakeslee Jr.; great grandchildren: Hailey and Chloe Senneker; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sister, Lorraine Donovan; and her parents, Vince and Hattie Hilaski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 – 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Peter Vu presiding. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens.

Relatives and friends may meet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming and 10 to 11 a.m. at the church  Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or St. Mary Magdalen Church.
