Donald Pitt, 86, of Wayland, died Monday, Jan. 11.

Don received Christ as his Savior in the fall of 1957. He used his music gift to serve the Lord with his wife, brothers and sisters in law. Then as his three girls grew, they began to sing as a family. The past 35 years they have traveled full time in the ministry singing with their son in law Evangelist Brian McBride and family.

Don retired from Rowe International after working 30 years in Grand Rapids. He was known by his many co-workers as “Deacon” Don. Don & and his wife Patricia (Biggs) are members of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Holland.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Patricia (Biggs) Pitt, and his daughters Nancy Pabis, Robin (Randy) Thompson and Sherrie (Brian) McBride; grandchildren Randi Lynn (Dan) Knap, Rob (Cara) Thompson, David Pabis II, Rick (Lindsae) Thompson, Rachel (Eric) Davis, Patricia Pabis, Bethany McBride and adopted granddaughter Seleana Manion; and 12 great grandchildren: Carter, Tessa, JoeAnna, Graham, Emmett, Naomi, Landin, Zaedin, Kaycin, Avianna, Jedidiah and Joshua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Visitation and Service will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Holland. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, and Friday, one hour before the service. Memorial Service: Friday, January 15, 11 am with fellowship meal to follow.
