Betty Eileen (Modreske) Hornick died early in the morning of Dec. 1 in her sleep, shortly after her 97th birthday.

Born in 1924 in Moline, Betty belonged to Pennellwood Church of God for more than 50 years. She made thousands of mittens and afghans for others.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Patricia), Michael, Bryan; grandchildren, Tracy (Scott), Teresa, Michael, Nick, Peter (Jaime), Anna (Josh); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (Theron); sister-in-law, Lorraine; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents, Frank and Eva; baby born in 1947; siblings, Dorothy and Roger; and grandson, David.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pennellwood Church of God with Pastor Jeff Ransom officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service for visitation. Memorial donations may be made to Pennellwood Church of God, 3459 Reiser Ave. SW, Wyoming MI.
