James “Jim” Mark Kenyon, 71, died Monday, Jan. 8, at his residence in Wayland.
Jim’s deepest love was his family, cherishing every moment spent together. He exhibited a servant’s heart, taking humble pride in helping others.
An avid supporter of Chicago sports teams, Jim enthusiastically cheered on the Cubs and Da Bears! His infectious laughter filled rooms, courtesy of his stellar dad jokes and bad puns. Golfing, card games with friends, and exploring new destinations were among his many passions.
Jim dedicated more than 50 years to the insurance industry.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Beth Kenyon; their children Cesin (Joe) Reder, Jason (Amie) Kenyon, and Jared (Whitney) Kenyon; grandchildren Brianna (Alex) Oeder, A.J. (Mizuho) Reder, Whitney Reder, Brody Reder, Addison Kenyon, Hendricks Kenyon, and Lennon Kenyon; as well as great-grandchildren Emma Reder, Joey Reder, and Halle James Oeder; siblings Jeff (Peg) Kenyon, Keith (Fran) Kenyon, Linda Kenyon; brother-in-law, Mike (Charlene) Schuster; six nephews, one niece, their spouses; and an extensive network of extended family and friends.
Jim’s parents, Charles and Shirley Kenyon; along with his parents-in-law, Ben and Betty Schuster, preceded him in death.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been carried out, and memorial services are scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 – 131st Ave., Wayland, preceded by visitation with the family starting at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Mary Beth Kenyon to be dispersed according to Jim’s wishes at a later date.
