Nicholas Mena died Monday, Aug. 5. He was 43.

Nicholas was a truly blessed man, but those who had the privilege of knowing him were even more blessed. His infectious laughter and unwavering ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone around him made him the heart of every gathering.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor touched, but are felt in the heart.” This is how Nicholas will forever be remembered—deeply felt in the hearts of all who loved him.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandmother Maria Mena, grandfather Rueben Mena, mother Yolanda Mena, father Mark Nutter, stepfather Domingo Torres, and brothers Micky and Marcos Torres.

He is survived by his daughter, Lexi Mena, son Spencer Tompsett, brother Manuel Torres and sister-in-law Brandy Torres, niece Mckaylya-Hope Vanbeek and her husband Austin Vanbeek, and his aunt and uncle, Rose and John Visscher.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, with music and gathering starting at 5 p.m. at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home 120 S. Woodhams St., Plainwell. A mass of Catholic burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, from St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 766 S Farmer St, Otsego. Nicholas will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.
