Mary Morgenstern, age 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Mary Lou married her Wayland High School sweetheart, William E. Morgenstern, and had three sons. Being a military family, they lived in Tennessee, Illinois and retired in Michigan at Payne Lake.

Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to all who knew her. She is remembered for her love of cooking, traveling, and fishing with family and friends and times spent enjoying the Michigan outdoors – especially those times at Payne Lake.

She is survived by her son, Russ (Julie) Morgenstern; seven grandchildren; siblings Pat (Blaine) Fowler, Jane Sheldon; daughters-in-law Marilyn and Jan Morgenstern; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Alice Sheldon; husband, William Edward Morgenstern Sr.; sons William Edward Jr., Thomas Lee Morgenstern; sisters Joan Sheldon, Audrey Sipkema, Sue DeBakey; brother, Robert Sheldon.

Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main, Wayland. Graveside service will follow the visitation at Elmwood Cemetery.

In honor of Mary, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Veteran’s Association, or Randy Brown Ministries.
