Jerry Genther, age 80, died at home surrounded by his family and his dog, Katie, Sunday, July 18.

Jerry had a love for everything outdoors, including hunting, trapping, and spending time at the cabin in Leota, Mich. He enjoyed gun-smithing, rebuilding guns, going to shows, and collecting his own.

In his younger years, he raced motorcycles including Triumphs and Nortons, which he later traded in for his Harley Davidson “Fat-Boy.” He loved his family, especially his wife, Judy and their dog, Katie.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Judy Genther; children Ellen (Dale) Miller, Christopher (Betsy) Genther, Warren (Vicki) Genther, Randy (Jennifer Bobbett) Smith; grandchildren Christopher, Jordan (Shelly), Dylan (Mickayla), Brody, Dallas; great-granddaughter, Emma; brother, Danny Genther; and four-legged friend, Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Edna Genther; two of his brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Dorr Cemetery.

In memory of Jerry and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
