Travis Wayne Harris, age 39, died unexpectedly June 6, at his home.
A graduate of Wayland High School, Travis served his country in the United States Marine Corps with two tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq and was then honorably discharged in 2008. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, especially football and baseball, collecting coins, playing video games, and anything sci-fi related.
Travis also enjoyed a good debate, often with Jordan; and she often won those debates. Most importantly, he loved his family and was a “momma’s boy.”
He is survived by his children Jordan (Jared De Groot) Harris, Kyle Harris; mother, Sandra Harris; siblings Josh (Michele) Harris, Julia (Paul Baker) Harris; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Harris; paternal grandparents Bill and Charlotte Harris; maternal grandparents Gerald and Marie Griffin; and cousins Jennifer Medina and Christopher Harris.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Wayland Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Travis will be laid to rest at South Martin Cemetery.
In memory of Travis and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any organizations assisting veterans or mental health awareness.
