Carl Haveman, age 90, of Martin, died Friday, Oct. 29.

Number six of nine siblings, Carl graduated from Martin Agricultural High School in 1949. He began farm-related work as a kid and became a dairy farmer from his high school days on. He was a lifelong member of East Martin CRC and volunteered his time and talents in numerous roles. He was also a member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mina Haveman; children Jim (Nancy) Haveman, Larry (Marty) Haveman, Bob (Kim) Haveman, Carol (Roger) Leep, Joanne (Vern) Klaasen, Andy (Jennifer) Haveman; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren (plus expecting two); sister, Helen (Ray) DeVries; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main Street, Wayland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at East Martin CRC, 510 118th Ave., Martin, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Carl, contributions may be made to East Martin Christian School or favorite charity of your choice.
