Robert M. Miklusicak, 59, was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle traffic crash at the corner of 138th Avenue and 24th Street in Dorr Township.

Allegan County Sheriff’s office deputies were dispatched to the scene just after midnight in reference to a loud bonfire, but a nearby homeowner said it was not a loud bonfire but a crash and that the truck was on fire. After Dorr and Salem Township fire personnel were able to put out the fire, they discovered a single occupant deceased inside.

Authorities said Miklusicak was southbound on 24th street and did not at the stop sign at the T-intersection at 138th Avenue. The truck went off the roadway and struck a large tree. The vehicle flipped multiple times before coming to rest and catching fire.

The crash was investigated by deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Team. It is  not known yet if alcohol was a factor.
