St. Therese Parish, Wayland, will have farewell reception in honor of Fr. Alphonse Savarimuthu after 10:30 mass Sunday, July 26.

Father Alphonse will be succeeded by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Schmidt, according to the Diocese of Kalamazoo.

Father Alphonse was trained by the Missionaries of Francis De Sales, came to Wayland four years ago from St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Niles, where he had been serving since July 2014.
