Republic Services of West Michigan reported today that drivers have returned from support and operations are proceeding as normal in the wake of reports of a strike last week in Wayland Township.
The company made a statement that Republic was a support division for work stoppages occurring on the East and West Coasts. “As a supporting division, service times could have been impacted with minimal delay as we shortened a couple drivers that were sent for assistance to the striking locations,” the company statement said.
Curbside recycling services for some Wayland Township residents were suspended temporarily. A township resident posted on Facebook, “Our area is currently on strike. Republic said to leave your can out until they make arrangements.”
