The Young Authors organization at Sycamore Elementary learned last month it was awarded a $500 grant from the Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs to help pay for a an upcoming, school-wide musical field trip.

The Young Authors group is sponsoring the trip in March to the Civic Theatre in Kalamazoo.

Nearly 300 students and the building’s staff will watch the musical “Madagascar.” This school wide field trip activity is being supported by Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. It will be a school-wide bonding and cultural experience during the March is Reading Month celebration

Their grant helps defray the costs of the trip, which have been estimated at nearly $2800.
