Allegan County Clerk Bob Genetski, Treasurer Sally Brooks and Drain Commissioner Denise Medemar have filed a lawsuit against the Allegan County Board of Commissioners to try to stop a plan to move their offices to the County Services Building at Dumont Lake.

The suit insists the move would result in a reduction of services from the three offices, which currently are housed in the county building at 113 Chestnut St in the City of Allegan. The three seek a ruling that these offices must remain within the city of Allegan, and to award attorney fees and other costs.

Genetski confirmed the filed suit was received Monday by his office.

Allegan County Commissioner Gale Dugan told members of the Martin Township Board and Watson Township Board earlier this month that the clerk’s services for courts and for elections will remain in the county building downtown.

Commissioners decided to move the three offices to make room for an additional circuit court judge, granted by the state last year.

Sounds like Allegan County does have a few leaders. So many in this age are followers. My opinion.
