Troopers from the Wayland post of the Michigan State Police say a 21-year-olod Grand Rapids man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a traffic crash on Marsh Road near Gun Lake.

The man died after losing control of his Honda Accord, crossing the center line and striking a pickup truck head-on less than two miles from the southern end of Gun Lake. The driver of the Accord was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the pickup, a 76-year-old Battle Creek man, and his passenger, his 77-year-old wife, were taken to the hospital with their injuries.

Authorities’ investigation suggests the driver of the Accord was driving with excessive speed and was a factor in the crash. Alcohol or drug impairment has not been ruled.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Orangeville Township Fire Department and Wayland EMS.
