Traffic shutdown on U.S.-131 results from runaway black cow

Though no injuries were reported, traffic just north of the Wayland exit o0n the U.S.-131 expressway was slowed to a crawl as far north as 100th Street because of a runaway black cow.

Officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation ordered the shutdown of the highway’s northbound lanes just before noon Wednesday. One lane was reopened about 10 minutes later, but authorities then closed all northbound lanes again.

Troopers from the Wayland post of the Michigan State Police are working with the cow’s owners to capture and control the animal.
