The driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle early Sunday morning in Hopkins Township and struck a utility pole.

The motorist was injured and taken to a hospital, Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities said, in the crash, which occurred at about 1 a.m. near the intersection of 128th Avenue and 16th Street.

Authorities said the truck left the road, rolled over and hit a utility pole, which brought a live power line down onto the truck. The motorist was thrown from the vehicle, but his condition was not made known.

Consumers Energy handled the downed wire.
