Eli Tuinstra and Kevin Suk of East Martin Christian School both were selected as finalists in the Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest sponsored by the VFW. Eli won first place ($150) and Kevin was awarded third place ($50) for their essays about how they show patriotism and support for their country. Both students were recognized by the VFW this week and received a medal with their names engraved on it, a certificate, and prize money. Eli’s essay will now be submitted to the District 8 level for further evaluation and the chance to win more money.
