In a somewhat unusual ceremony Tuesday evening, Suzanne Hoek and Elizabeth Bayer were sworn in as newest members of the Wayland City Planning Commission.
The regular meeting was chaired by Commissioner Andrew Shelest in the absence of Chairman JD Gonzales and former Vice Chair Anne Tatreau, who resigned earlier this year because she no longer is a city resident. Shelest was a chosen temporary chairman because he has the most seniority on the commission.
Deputy Clerk Ann McInerney swore in the two new members, who are succeeding Tatreau and Gary Ragan.
City Manager Erik Wilson, meanwhile, recommended officers for the Planning Commission be elected next month. Such elections usually are in March, but the commission did not meet then.
In other business Tuesday evening, the commission was presented with an outline of a capital improvement plan it must vote on in May and then pass along to the City Council.
