
Wayland City Manager Erik Wilson Monday night told the City Council that his office has received an offer to purchase a parcel in the northeast section next to the sewer lagoons.
Wilson declined to disclose the identity of the prospective buyer and the money involved, but noted it is a 40-acre lot. When asked what the parcel is zoned, he replied “governmental.”
Mayor Jennifer Antel remarked, “I would rather list it,” (the property) to see if the competition could fetch a higher price.
In other business at the meeting Monday, the council:
- Approved two budget, amendments one for a surplus of $4,000 that was over budgeted under the category of Streets and Transfer, and the other to accommodate the pay increase for the city’s first full-time fire chief, Jon Timmers.
- Was told by citizen Nan Olney that the recent weather has resulted in creation of of new potholes on city streets. Wilson said the Department of Public Works is already dealing with the problem.
- Noted that the next meeting of the council will be at 7 p.m.on Tuesday, Jan. 20, because Monday, Jan. 19, will be Martin Luther King Day.
