VFW to salute the late Joe Skultety, 92

Joe John Skultety, Gun Lake, died Friday, Aug. 2.

He was born June 14, 1932, at his home near Gun Lake. He joined the Navy at 17 years old and served 10 years aboard the destroyers USS Leary DDR879 and USS Sperry DD697. He worked 10 years for Bradford White and 25 years for Rockwell International.

Joe enjoyed many hours of boating on Gun Lake and spending time with family and friends here and in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters Pam Balik and Debi White; grandchildren Kimberly, Benjamin, and Clint; great-grandchildren Kaylee and Anson; as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his son, Glen; brothers Steve and John; and sister, Mary.

After a private military salute by the Wayland VFW, Joe’s ashes will be laid to rest at Robbins Cemetery.
