John Adkins, age 46, died Wednesday, Oct. 28.

John was a warm, caring, and kind-hearted man, underneath his tough exterior. His favorite color was purple; favorite movie “Twister.” His favorite food was peanut butter cups. He had a love for animals. especially frogs. and a love for hats. He was known to everyone as “Uncle John.”

He survived by his partner, Jeff Wilson; children Hunter Adkins and Brandon Adkins; parents Sherry (Russ) Burghorn and Jacquelyn Whyatt; siblings Joseph (Joey) Adkins Jr., Matthew Adkins, Amanda (Tyce) Gerrits, Amelia Wilson; cousins Marcee (Leslie) Wagner, Mindy (Rebecca) Stevens; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Adkins.

Visitation with his family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 7, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th Street, Dorr.

In honor of John, contributions may be made to his family for funeral expenses.
