Lifetime Wayland man Ron Jones dies at home at 82

Ronald Allen Jones of Wayland died Sunday, Aug. 27, at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 82.

Born and raised in Wayland, Ron graduated from Wayland High School in 1958. He enjoyed everything outdoors — flowers, deer, nature and the woods.

Ron had a clever sense of humor and was always able to put a smile on anyone’s face. Most important, his pride and joy was his family and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

He is survived by his daughters Nadine (Craig) Stevenson, Norine Butcher; grandchildren Jared (Jessica) Stevenson, Caleb (Sarah) Stevenson, Megan Butcher, Sarah (Bryce) Gould; great-grandson, Braydon Gould; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Jones; sister, Wilma Landon; and brother, Russell Jones.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a time to visit with Ron’s family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St.

In memory of Ron and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cancer Research Consortium of West Michigan.
