Richard Edward “Rick” Shepard, 85, of Wyoming, formerly of Dorr, died Monday, Oct. 23.

He was born July 25, 1932, in Grand Rapids, to Edward and Bernice Shepard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barb, (having 60 years of marriage). He retired from Spartan Stores as a semi-truck driver with more than 33 years of dedicated service. He was very proud of his service awards.

He was a Korean War Veteran and served his country with honor. He has been a loyal member of American Legion Post 127 since its establishment. He loved playing cards, bingo and spending time with friends. His time spent recently at Bayberry Farms has been memorable and he enjoyed the new friendshipsl.

He is survived by son, Steve and Shirley Shepard; daughter, Terri Shepard; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Don Bloem; son, Brian Shepard; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, Steve, Shirley, Terri, Connie, Don and Brian.

Following his wishes, he will be cremated. The family will meet locally at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home in Dorr from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov 4. Immediately following the funeral service friends and family will gather together to honor and celebrate his life with an Honor Guard Salute at the Dorr American Legion Post 127.
