Visitation, service set for Kurt Antvelink, 62

Kurt John Antvelink of Hopkins died Monday, July 21, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, quiet strength and unwavering devotion.

Born on Sept. 17, 1962, in Grand Rapids, to Jim and Krystene Antvelink. Kurt grew up attending Calvin Christian Schools before serving in the U.S. Army for four years. Following his service, he graduated from Davenport College.

He then met and married Suzanne (Grant) Antvelink, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. Together, they raised their three children in Hopkins, where they continued to make their home.

Kurt was a devoted husband, father, and son. He took great pride in his work, dedicating many years as an estimator for the lumber industry, where he formed strong friendships and was known for his reliability, integrity and work ethic. If you knew Kurt, you knew his signature sarcasm, his thoughtful riddles at Christmas, and his quiet attentiveness to those around him.

He is survived by his children: Rachel (Derek) Schmidt of Waukesha, Wisc.; Reuben (Mary Ansley) Antvelink of Seattle, Wash.; and Lee (Liz) Antvelink of Mount Pleasant.  He is also survived by his mother Krystene Antvelink, siblings Kevin (Dawn) Antvelink, Jeff (Sue) Antvelink and Luanne (Mike) Groen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Antvelink, and his sister, Lana Antvelink.

The family will be host for a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday July 26, at Hopkins Community Church, 2142 128th St. Visitation will be held preceding the service from 9 to 11a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
