Barbara Herrington of Plainwell died Wednesday, May 31, at the age of 78.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1944, in Saylersville, Ky., the daughter of Charles and Grace (Howard) Fitzpatrick.
She grew up in Orangeville and graduated from Martin Schools in 1962. She met Daniel Herrington through friends, and they were married on Sept. 21,1974. They were married for 48 years before he passed away on April 24, 2023.
Barb was a hairdresser and owned her own salon for almost 20 years. She loved to do crafts and was very talented. She would do as many craft shows as she could.
More than anything Barb loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed an event or opportunity to spend time with them.
Barb is preceded in her passing by her parents and siblings: Etoyla, Della, Joe, Bonnie, Donna and Rick.
Surviving are her children: Budd (Kimberly) Hybels, Brad (Aimee) Herrington; grandchildren: Alex and Emma Herrington, and Skyra, Grace and Blake Hybels; siblings: Henry, Rose, Paul, Faye, Carol and Patsey as well as her sister-in-law Sally (Clarence) Collison and numerous nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will take place at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes, 120 South Woodhams St., Plainwell from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. Following visitation, Barb will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery of Orangeville Township at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8. After the committal service at the cemetery a luncheon will be held at the Orangeville Township Hall.
