Larry A. Oetman, age 78 of Wayland, died Monday, August 31, after a courageous battle with heart disease and leg amputation.

Larry loved his church, community, and especially his farm. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Auction House Café.

Larry was a lifelong member at Wayland Christian Reformed Church, where his family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2,  at the Wayland Christian Reformed Church Education Building, 303 East Elm St.

Surviving is his wife Arlene, married for 55 years; his siblings: Dave (Arlene) Oetman, Louis (Florence Oetman) Miedema, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Donna Oetman, Beverly (the late Kevin) Post, Steve (Rayanna) Oetman, and John (Shari) Oetman; 10 loved grandchildren: Matt andKelly (Post) Hirdes, Kyle and  Marcia Post, Calvin and Kendra (Post) VanOpstall, and Kurtis Post, Tim, Nathan and Tyler Oetman, Samantha and Justin Oetman and Brooklyn Oetman; and one great-grandson Kevin Hirdes.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Wayland Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Jerry Zandstra officiating. Interment will be at Hooker Cemetery.
