Bennie Gates, age 72, died Aug, 15.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Gates; children Sonny Gates, Chris (Ann Brower) Gates, John (Dena) Rynearson, Mike (Pam) Rynearson; grandchildren Lilly, Rocky, Ryan; siblings Gertie Merrill, Carrie (Donn) Wiley, Beverly (Rich Gregory) Jipping, John Gates, Earl (Karen) Gates; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Marian Gates; his siblings Gerritt Gates and Bertha DeWendt.

Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19,  at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. Bennie will be laid to rest at Salem Township Cemetery at a later date.

In memory of Bennie and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
