Gary E. Funk of Dorr died Saturday, July 29. He was 66.

He was born Sept. 21, 1950, in New Salem, the son of Gerald and Louise (Steffes) Funk. Gary served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, UAW, American Legion, Elks Club of Holland and the Moose Club of Dorr.

He is survived by his children Marie (Chris) Cook and Gerald (Amy) Funk and his granddaughter, Payton Nichols; brothers and sisters Rosalene Burd, Eugene Funk, Jim Phieffer, Sue Ann Funk, Deb Funk, Raymond (Kathy) Funk, Patricia (Don) Van Wagner, Susan Gruis and Deb (Mike) Valenti; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda (Mel) Stoepker, Howard (Linda) Stephans, Diane (Larry) Reed, Denise (Tim) Connor, Betty (Mike) Gensler along with many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Gary was preceded in death in 2013 by his wife, Bonnie; his parents and his siblings Theresa Pelgrim, Mary Lou Pfeiffer, James and Bernard Funk.

Visitation will be at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Dorr Chapel, from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, with a rosary being held at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 2, at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church – 2459 146th Ave., Dorr. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery.

In honor of Gary, memorial contributions may be directed to Wings of Hope Hospice or St. Mary’s School.
