The Watson Township Board Thursday evening announced it has received a $2,000 legacy grant from the Allegan Foundation.

The board accepted the gift and will use the money for continued plans for the Seven Generations Park at the corner of 16th Street and M-222. Township and Gun Lake Tribe officials held a ribbon cutting at the site last October.

In other business at Thursday night’s meeting, the board:

  • Learned that Trustee Michelle Harris will solicit bids from three companies to provide a scrap metal container and four dumpsters for the annual cleanup day May 20. The three firms are Bernie’s Haul-Away of Plainwell, Arrowaste and Farmers’.
  • Fielded a complaint from Dave Long about water runoff at 2032 124th Ave.
  • Approved standard operational procedures proposed by zoning enforcement administrator Jim Davis.
  • Learned that the Planning Commission has approved a special use permit for a gravel mining operation on 122nd Avenue.
