Scott Getter, wScott Getterho has been director of technology for Hopkins Public Schools for the last 17 years, has been named new tech director at Wayland but will remain at Hopkins almost one-third of the time.

The Wayland Board of Education Monday night was introduced to Getter, whose salary of about $86,000 will be paid 70 percent by Wayland and 30% Hopkins.

“It’s actually a cost savings for both school districts,” Getter pointed out.

Though Hopkins has not yet formally approved the arrangement, there are plans to hire a part-time tech person to cover the times Getter won’t be available.

Getter has a bachelor’s degree in geology and computer science from Grand Valley State University. He also had a computer repair business in Kent County for a spell.

He succeeds Theresa Fulk as tech director at Wayland. Fulk had held the post for the last five years before being elevated earlier this summer to director of instruction, succeeding the retiring Deanna Ray Hayes.
