Main Street PlanningThe Wayland City Council Monday night agreed to seek requests for proposals for planning services and post them on the city’s web site.

The city had been contracting with Wade Trim for planning for a almost a year and a half, but learned consultant Janis Johnson has left the firm to re-establish Main Street Planning of Grand Rapids with her husband, Tim Johnson.

The Johnsons are among the firms interested in offering services.

Tim Johnson also serves as planner for Dorr Township and Wayland Township.

Wayland City Manager Tim McLean indicated that about a dozen planning services have indicated interest.

In the interim period, he said Professional Code Inspections of Dorr will fill in and PCI also has asked to be considered.

The council will review the bids and vote on hiring services perhaps as early as next month.
