The Wayland Fire Station on West Superior Street will be open as a cooling station from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, June 1. This will more than likely be extended into Friday as well. Anyone who needs a place to cool off and need a cold water is invited to stop in.

Meanwhile, the Leighton Township Fire Department is offering the same service to the public for the rest of the week with the high heat predicted for the rest of week at station #2 at 4475 Kalamazoo Ave. Residents should feel free to stop in to cool down or grab a cold bottle of water.
