The Wayland High School pool will be closed for the rest of the week and perhaps longer.

Fitness & Aquatics Director John Charon of Northern Physical Therapy said the water heater in the pool stopped stopped working Monday.

“Due to the extremely cold water temperatures, we will have to cancel all current activities scheduled in the pool this week,” Charon said. “There will  be no lap swim, open swim or water aerobics until this mechanical issue is resolved.

“At this point we do not have an estimated reopening date, however the school district is working as quickly as possible to correct the problem. We anticipate that the pool will likely be shut down at least a week or two.

“We will be sure to inform you when the pool is operating correctly again.”
