The community of Wayland had a 14% increase in visitors from 2023 to 2024, according to data provided by National Main Street for all Michigan Main Street communities.
Director Holli McPherson said, “That is the highest percentage increase in the state of Michigan for Main Street communities! Not only the highest, but the second closest one was 8%!
“We estimate that every visitor spends $30. With an additional 15,000 visitors for 2024, that was an extra $450,000 that was spent in the Wayland community!
“Downtown Wayland’s heart is beating stronger! Where community and growth meet!”
