Wayland school summer program serves 10,000 meals

Wayland Union Schools served 10,000 meals this summer. The district offered free lunches to kids ages 18 and under in a variety of locations, as well as breakfast during summer school. Fun events were also offered free to families including a Bounce Party in the Park, a family circus act “Cirque Amongus”, a multi-cultural musical storytelling couple called “The Storytellers,” Joel’s Book Builder Magical Comedy Show, early childhood playgroups in the park and Kiwanis Kids Day. Corporate sponsors who donated to provide these events were A-1 Ashphalt, Clark Hill, Chartwells, Chemical Bank, Hastings City Bank, Hungry Howies, Pro Mow Lawncare, Oetman Excavating, Reno Agency, Scott Bloom OD, Tower Pinkster, Triangle Construction, United Bank, Wayland Do it Best Hardware, Wayland Chamber and the Wayland Union Education Foundation.
