It may be the August dog days of summer, but workers at Wayland Union schools are spending a great deal of time preparing for the upcoming academic year with some physical improvements. In back of the high school, machines are moving dirt to prepare for the new dozen tennis courts (cover photo), approved almost a year ago by voters in a bond issue. Another of the renovations is moving all the pictures and plaques of the Japinga and Multer athletic award winners into the old cafeteria along a wall to the right of the main entrance. Half a million dollars in 5 administrators' salaries, what's 12 tennis courts? How many from WUHS will be at Wimbledon? NONE 10 mills on a football stadium, how many Wayland players will play in the NFL? NONE. Why not spend some taxpayer money on real careers, not the look at us mentality of the BOE. Spend another $40,000 on a pool nobody uses. Money does not grow on trees.
