The annual Wayland Summerfest celebration is taking place a bit early this year, with events planned for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 9, 10 and 11, promising a weekend of fun, live music, food and community.
Many of the activities will be held at the City Park. Attendees are urged to bring a chair because there will be a stage with live music and food trucks. There are gazebos at the Wayland City Park and near the Big Dipper Ice Cream Shop for a rest area.
Local restaurants on Main Street will be open all weekend for meals or a pit stop.
Schedule of events:
• Friday, June 9, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the City Park, featuring Grassroots Henna and Design (no charge).
- Saturday, June 10 — Live music all day; Wayland’s Summer Celebration Car Show, Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, 7 to 10:30 a.m. Wildcat Color Run (18 years and younger) will start at Hanlon on South Main and go to the Main/Superior intersection, then down the alley and back. The course covers about a half of a mile. The event is scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m.House Chiropractic is providing free white T-shirts for all participants.
- Sunday, June 11 — Summerfest Sunday Service from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wayland City Park. Stud Muffin’s Cupcakes and Slinging’ Weenies food trucks will be on hand.
