Louise Ann Nickels, age 88 of Lake City, died Wednesday, June 20.

She was born in Wayland Township on April 11, 1930 to Charles and Irene Kuhtic who predeceased her.

Louise loved traveling with second husband Norm. They rode motorcycles or traveled by RV through 49 states, spending retirement years in the Rio Grande Valley, where several of their grandchildren visited.

Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. After Norm’s death in 2004, Louise moved to Lake City.  In her last years, she was an active parish member at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Lake City where she had many friends.

She is survived by her children; Daire (Bruce) Rendon, Renee (Ray) Lillie, Debra (Jerry) Neff, Mathew (Tiffany) Moore, and Tammy Moore-Abbatte; step children; Virginia (Jerry) Mauchmer, Norma (Gerard) Kwiatkowski, David (Robin) Nickels, Shirley (Daryl) VanderPloeg, Rosemary (Doc) Tilma, Dolores (Steve) Debri, Carol (Richard) Wierenga, and Jay (Kathy) Nickels; sister, Elaine Kovac, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her husbands, Frederick Duane Moore in 1975 and Norman Nickels in 2004; her son, Michael Duane Moore, sister Marcelline Kuhtic; and brother Charles Kuhtic Jr.

A celebration of Louise’ life will take place with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, with a Rosary service at 7:30 at Kubiak Cook Funeral Services, 312 N Main St, Wayland.

Cremation has taken place.

In honor of Louise and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
